SDC 2005 - Arre great yaar!
Our first national conference - SDC 2005 - concluded on Sunday and I'm still on a post-conference high. This conference has been an amazing experience in so many ways - the entire national leadership team got together, along with prospective EB and LCP applicants for four days, headed by the coolest chair - Dhanur Grandhi, and four brilliant facis - Eva (@Pak's first trainee), Nicole (ex MCP Switzerland, and the coolest woman I have ever met), Nic (our CEEDer/LCP Curtin) and Amaan (MCVP Finance - India). The OC - Sana, Haris and Mikaal - did a really good job, and making sure we were well supplied with pizza ;) The conference venues were different for each day: We spent a day at the beach, two days at SZABIST and one day at the Marriot Hotel. Two of Pakistan's leading business channels provided media coverage for the conference, thanks to Dodi and Tori. I'd never expected this conference to be as awesome as it was: designing a vision for @Pakistan's future, discussing the relevance of AIESEC in Pakistan, intense feedback about the way we work courtesy our LC members, reality checks - there's so much that I can't even articulate it into words (thats also because I still haven't been able to catch up on my sleep). Nida's posted about the 'moments' of the conference on the @Lahore blog here, so here's my list, excluding the ones she's mentioned:
- the 'tony' joke, the hysterical laughter it sparked and the resulting roll calls
- Our chair and four other delegates crashing a wedding in the neighborhood of the MC house
- commission session
- playing dumb charades ('so what's a preposition?')
- the vision session (I have to mention this one again, just because it was the best!)
- the ER session
- the relevance of AIESEC in Pakistan
